About Scott Stanley, owner of Caring Hands
Scott Stanley’s story is one of both following your passion and things coming full circle.
In high school, Scott knew he had a great ability to relate and connect with people, and also had a keen interest in biological sciences. He seriously considered a career in medicine, but his doctor at the time told him medicine was changing with the emergence of managed care and that a business career held brighter prospects.
Scott got his college degree and entered the high technology world. Here he gained tremendous experience in sales, management, and operations – coincidentally the ideal qualifications to run a small business – working for successful corporations such as Oracle and Macrovision. At one point he grew an office from 5 to 65 people and was responsible for a $75 million business unit. Accomplishments he credits to both his business acumen and his ability to empathize with people, empowering them to be the best they can be.
But the health care bug was still there. He considered leaving high tech and becoming a physician’s assistant (PA). A career as a PA seemed ideal as he could both work in a caring profession while still maintaining a sense of balance in life. Unfortunately, other commitments in his life prevented the change, and many of the programs he looked into would require a move from California.
Then, in 2003, he read a life-changing article in Fast Company magazine entitled “Are You Deciding on Purpose?” This convinced him that his life-long love of health care, combined with his vast experience in business, could create something great.
Later, realizing that high tech was not in his future anymore, Scott engaged with a career counselor to discover what path he should take. His lifelong passion for working with people, combined with his keen interest in healthcare, came through so strongly that the counselor recommended he pursue opportunities in a caring profession on the first visit!
After looking at various small business opportunities, he and his wife discovered the field of caregiving. It was a perfect fit! Rather than start from scratch, his business sense told him it was better to buy an established business. That’s where Caring Hands came in the picture.
Scott knew he had found his place after speaking with Caring Hands’ owners. They were offering much more than just caregiving services. They truly cared about their clients’ wellbeing, with the mission of providing the highest level of care possible. Scott and his wife bought the business and haven’t looked back since.
Today Scott’s world has come full circle from his days in high school. He has passion for Caring Hands well beyond any job he’s had before – and that passion is reflected every day in Caring Hands’ services and caregivers.
